Through school my passion was always for art. But it took another 10 years and a move to the south of France to truly inspire me to pick up my paintbrush once again and begin to paint the country side. I found the best way of exploring the area was on my bike and I have spent many hundreds of kilometres cycling around looking for scenic landscapes. All of my work is in oils and I am most influenced by colour and light which I try to reflect in my work.

The biggest surprise from my time spent in France was my love of cycling and I was a regular participating on the cyclesportive circuit, as well watching the professionals in the big tours. I was struck by the spectical and drama of bike races. I am not looking at creating a portrait of a cyclist but to capture the essence of the race itself: the moment of a sprint, the effort and/or suffering of a rider, or just the sheer vastness of the terrain he has to conquer.
